Integrated Math I

Integrated Math II

Integrated Math III

Pre-algebra is an introductory course that bridges arithmetic with higher maths. It establishes a foundation for learning algebra, geometry and statistics by engaging the student by solving systems of linear equations and simplifying polynomial expressions, measuring and transforming geometric figures, calculating probabilities and analyzing univariate and bivariate data. Pre-algebra is the bridge between elementary math and algebra In this course, you will learn to model mathematical and real-world math problems using algebra, geometry, and statistical data. The course begins with a review of arithmetic with fractions and decimals that include ratios, proportions, percents and integers. You will learn sampling techniques and study the probability of simple and compound events. Then you learn to use statistics to model univariate and bivariate data. You will model with univariate data by using measures of center and measures of variability to study data with only one variable. Bivariate data will be studied by graphing scatter plots and lines that best fit in two variables on the coordinate plane. The use of technology and calculators will also be used to support topics such as Scientific Notation and Drawing Geometric figures. Coming Summer 2022.

Pre-Algebra

The emphasis of this course is on developing effective written and verbal communication skills and examining a variety of American authors, themes, and writings. You will engage with this course through assigned readings, lessons, discussions, and reflections on readings. Throughout the course you will read and analyses literature of all types - books, plays, poetry, oral tales, and more. You will learn how to write a thesis statement, a one page outline, and a five paragraph essay analyzing conflict in short stories. You will learn how to incorporate quotes from literature to add depth to your writing. Coming Summer 2022.

English Literature and Composition engages learners in reading, analyzing, and writing about literature from various eras. This course is designed as an introduction to economics. In this course students will delve into understanding major economic theories and resulting shifts in political structures. Spanish II continues to build on the foundational vocabulary and grammar skills acquired in Spanish I and further explores the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Reading, writing, listening and speaking skills remain the key focus as learners expand their vocabulary to communicate in greater detail about familiar topics in a variety of both present, past and future tenses. Learners will complete Spanish II with an intermediate level of proficiency. Coming Summer 2022.

Spanish II

Major themes include data analysis, probability calculations, sampling methods and statistical inference. After successfully completing this course, students should be able to receive college credit when taking the AP Statistics Exam given by College Board. Even if students do not take the AP exam, they should have a strong, solid statistical background to be able to test out of introduction to statistics in college.

AP Macroeconomics is a course designed to introduce students to the principles of economics that apply to the economics system as a whole. This course provides a deeper dive into national income, price-level determination, economic performance measures, the financial sector, stabilization policies, economic growth, and international economics.. Through this course students will learn a variety of skills including how to ready, write, and analyze graphs, charts, and data, and how to describe and explain fundamental economic concepts. Students will prepare for the AP Macroeconomics test. This course mirrors the AP Macro ""course and exam description"" it its layout. Human Anatomy and Physiology is a rigorous science class that takes an in-depth look at the systems of the human body. You will learn about structures of the human body and how these correlate to their functions. We will look at all levels of organization, from the smallest atom to the entire organism. One focus of this course is the body’s ability to maintain homeostasis as we learn how these structures work together in order to sustain life. While an understanding of anatomy and physiology is of course fundamental to any career in health care, it will also benefit you personally. It introduces students to foundational concepts and methods for studying the impact race and ethnicity have had and continue to have on the people and systems of the United States. The goal is for students to identify and understand why social inequalities in the U.S. persist and how these inequalities are distributed across racial lines. Coming Summer 2022.

Graphic design is an introductory level visual arts course that teaches students to think like designers while building their foundational understanding of the elements and principles of art and design. Students will apply problem solving and critical thinking skills to create innovate solutions to design challenges as they learn about opportunities in the field and hone their ability to communicate visually. In this course students will explore the world of digital music making, learning about everything from the history and elements of digital music to how to make beats or a podcast! This introductory, hands-on course will have students work in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to apply their learnings and create their own original audio projects. Coming Summer 2022.

Introduction to Photography is a course for students who are interested in learning about beginning photographic techniques. In this course, students will explore both camera and editing techniques, as well as photographic developments throughout history. Coming Summer 2022.

Financial Literacy II: Budgeting and Investing

This course engages students in authentic engineering practices in a project-based environment. By scaffolding student learning over a series of engaging and socially relevant design challenges, the curriculum challenges students to develop design skills and engineering habits of mind. The ultimate course goal is to demonstrate scientific knowledge and skills as students become self-directed learners who can define and solve problems, develop and use models, plan and carry out investigations, analyze and interpret data, use mathematical models and computations, design solutions, engage in argument from evidence and obtain, evaluate, and communicate information. By integrating problem based self-directed learning throughout the course, the students developed mastery of the fundamentals of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. They become masters of project management, teamwork, and effective communication.

While enrolled in this course, you will have exclusive access to our weekly Virtual Office Hours. This is a great time to meet with your course instructors to ask questions and engage with fellow students. Science office hours will be from 2-5 PM PST on Tuesday!

Senior Seminar will introduce learners to important topics that will prepare them to be successful in life after high school. In this course, students will learn about self-awareness, evaluating their own strengths and how to leverage these for their future course of study or career. They will also learn important tools for healthy relationships and communication both in their personal lives and in the workplace. Senior Seminar also focuses on topics related to independent living, such as managing money, health and safety and general home maintenance. Coming Summer 2022.
